To end the first half, the Comets went on a 95-yard drive highlighted with a 65-yard Zach Horatschki run and a 2-yard touchdown run by Andrew Curley as time expired.
“We had some good moments,” OAP Coach Jeremy Dirksmeyer said. “Horatschki ran the ball pretty well and we had a great drive to end the first half. We didn’t have any continuity, there were definitely some bright points just not as many as you’d like”
Horatschki would end the game with 143 yards.
In the second half, Bismarck would score three more times. On the opening drive of the half, Ganley scored on a 27-yard run. On their second drive, Powell scored on a 73-yard run.
As the game wound down, OAP was near the wrong goal-line and muffed a punt that would end up in points for the Blue Devils. Freshman Michael Feeney came up with the ball, taking the lead to 49-7 and initiating the running clock.
Still undefeated, the Blue Devils will host Hoopeston Area, while the Comets host Westville next week.
