LOCAL ROUNDUP: Seeger’s White pitches a no-hitter


WEST LEBANON, Ind. —  Chandler White struck out four batters and walked two in getting a five-inning no-hitter as the Seeger baseball team beat Fountain Central 12-0 on Wednesday.

Jordan Stover continued his hot streak for the Patriots, going 3-for-3 with a three-run home run and a double. For Stover, it was his third home run in his last four games.

Dakota Ware and Jake Fell each hit home runs for Seeger while Caleb Orahood had two hits, stole two bases and scored two runs.

The Patriots improve to 7-1 for the season.

Schlarman 11

POTOMAC — Mason Gard had three RBIs as the Hilltoppers pounded out 10 hits to beat the Trojans in six innings.

Austin Calhoun and Dylan Fisher each had two RBIs for Schlarman Academy while Emmitt Black had three hits and one RBI.

Mason Combs gave up only three hits to get the win for the Hilltoppers, who are 4-8 and 4-1 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and is scheduled to play Oakwood on Friday.

The Trojans, coming off their first win of the season on Monday, is 1-10 and 1-6 and is scheduled to play a makeup game with Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman today.

CHAMPAIGN — The Vikings only had three hits and made four errors as they were defeated by the Chargers in Big 12 Conference action.

Chloe Davis took the loss for Danville, who is 3-9 and 0-2 in the Big 12 and is scheduled to play Mattoon today.

ARMSTRONG — Sydne Bryant and Briana Welsch each hit two home runs as the Hilltoppers defeated the Trojans.

Welsch had five RBIs while Bryant had four and Elizabeth Hawkins added two for Schlarman.

Maria Rangel had 10 strikeouts in getting the win for the Hilltoppers, who are 4-10 and 2-1 in the VVC and will play Oakwood on Friday.

Makenzie Vinson had an RBI for Armstrong-Potomac, who is 5-5 and 3-4 and will take on Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman today.

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Miranda Synesael, Kiley Swisher and Shelby Brown each won singles matches as the Patriots swept the Warriors.

The doubles teams of Bridget McGowen and Emmie Stevens and Becky and Jessi Middleton also won for Seeger, who is 3-0 and is scheduled to play Attica today.

OXFORD, Ind. — Katharyn Majors got the only win for the Mustangs when her match was halted by rain as she was leading 4-2 in the final set.

The Mustangs are scheduled to play Western Boone today.



Lively signs with SEMO

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Former North Vermillion and DACC standout Hillary Lively signed a letter of intent to play the remaining two years of her collegiate career with Southeast Missouri State University.

Lively led the nation in field goal percentage (61.9 percent) and averaged 11.9 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Lady Jaguars, who was 22-10 this season.

She was also named to her second Mid-West Athletic Conference team and named to the All-Region 24 team.

“We are thrilled for Hillary. Her goal in coming here was to eventually end up at a D1 school,” DACC coach Kyle Bent said. “She is a great kid and an extremely hard worker. She will be a solid asset to the SEMO program.”

The Redhawks are part of the Ohio Valley Conference and are coming off an 11-18 season.
