JAMAICA — Salt Fork’s Ross Learnard finally got back on the mound on Wednesday for the first time in a week and he did not disappoint, pitching a perfect game as the Salt Fork baseball team beat Schlarman Academy in five innings.
“He had his breaking ball going good again and that was the key,” Salt Fork coach Gary Hansgen said. “We had to get him in because some games were rained out this week.”
Learnard had nine strikeouts and also had one RBI. Cole Taylor and Garrett McFadden each had two RBIs, Noah Darr and Max Stutsman each had two hits and one RBI while Cole Sanford added a RBI.
The Storm are 8-2 and 5-0 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Bismarck-Henning on Friday.
Terre Haute South 14, Danville 3
DANVILLE — The Vikings gave up 20 hits as they lost in six innings to Terre Haute South.
Austin West had a three-run home run for Danville, who is 1-6 and will take on Champaign Central today at 6:30 p.m. at Danville Stadium.
Westville 12, Oakwood 4
OAKWOOD — The Tigers had 11 hits but also took advantage of 10 Comets errors to get the win.
Kyle Brazas and Adam High each had three hits for Westville while Christian Jackson had two hits and two RBIs and Tanner Cox had two hits and a RBI.
Landon Turner and Kyle Girton each had one RBI for Oakwood, who will face Attica on Saturday.
Salt Fork 6, Schlarman 3
CATLIN — Kaylee McFadden had three RBIs as the Storm rallied with three runs in the sixth to get past the Hilltoppers.
Lea Hall had two hits and two RBIs for Salt Fork, while Emilie McFadden had one RBI and Kayln Learnard had three hits.
Rachel Wallis had two RBIs and Joslyn Dietzen had one RBI for Schlarman, who will face Westville on Monday.
