CHAMPAIGN — With a run in the top of the seventh inning of the second game of a doubleheader, the Danville Area Community College team salvaged a split Saturday with a 3-2 win.
Austin Hayes had two RBIs for the Jaguars, while Nick Barrientos had one RBI. AJ Childerson gave up only five hits to go to 6-0 for the season.
“In the first game, we didn’t put a glove on the ball and we let things go by the sixth inning,” DACC coach Tim Bunton said. “In the second game, we played better defense and were able to push out a winning run.”
IN the first game, Tyler Minogue had two hits and two RBIs for DACC, who had five errors in a 7-2 defeat.
The Jaguars are 17-9 and 9-5 in the Mid-West Athletic Conference and will host the Cobra again today at Danville Stadium.

ST. JOSEPH — The Vikings got nine hits for the day, but were swept by the Spartans.
Austin West had all of Danville’s three hits in the first game, while Jonathan Brinkley had three of the team’s hits in the second game.
The Vikings are 1-5 and will face Schlarman Academy on Tuesday.
Salt Fork wins two at Tuscola
TUSCOLA — The Storm hit six home runs for the day as it beat Sullivan 15-5 and Paxton-Buckley-Loda 10-3 at the Tuscola Invitational.
Against Sullivan, Cole Sanford had four hits and five RBIs for Salt Fork, while Cole Taylor, Noah Darr and Ross Learnard each had two and Max Stutsman, Garrett McFadden and Lane Watson each had one. Darr and Learnard each hit a home run.
Taylor, Stutsman, McFadden and Colton Baird each hit home runs against PBL with Taylor getting three RBIs, Baird and Stutsman each getting two an d McFadden, Sanford, and Lane Weston each getting one.
