Danville girls tennis wins fourth straight Big 12 crown

BLOOMINGTON — With three singles titles on Saturday, the Danville girls tennis team clinched its fourth straight Big 12 Conference tennis title after winning all three doubles titles on Friday.

Rachael Lewis, Amy Shah and Taylor Ellis won the first three singles spots for the Vikings while Neha Patel, Amanda Vadenboncoeur and Katie Koebrich each ended up second in the last three spots.

“I think we won six titles last year as well, but this was a lot more dominating,” Danville coach Mark Bacys said. “We won the three doubles last night and then we went into today wanting to win all nine.

“We also thought it would be close because Normal Community was getting close to us but after last night, we sent a message to them.”

The next stop of the Vikings is sectional play next weekend at the Danville Tennis Club. The sectionals run from Friday-Saturday.
