---- — GEORGETOWN — An action-packed third quarter saw both Milford/Cissna Park and Georgetown-Ridge Farm score twice was the highlight, but it was the Bearcats who maintained their early lead to get a 39-27 win on Friday.

A strange play ended the third with a buffaloes’ punt from their end zone and a penalty on MCP allowed the quarter to continue with no time on the clock.

On the next play, MCP running back Devon Laubscher ran for one of his five touchdowns on a 34-yard run to officially end the 3rd quarter.

“The offensive line made some big holes for me tonight and it was a total team effort win,” Laubscher said.

The Bearcats sealed the win with a long time-consuming drive in the fourth.

The Buffaloes had five turnovers on the night as they played without head coach Josh Cavanaugh.

“The team needed to play four quarters instead of the two quarters we played,” Interim GRFC coach Jay Willaman said. “We need to not turn the ball over so much.

“Now we go back to focus on the next game and our goal like every team is to get 6 or more wins on this season to make the playoffs.”

The whole game was a seesaw battle back and forth before the Bearcats took control of the game in the second half.

“During the week they went back to the basics had to get back to the running game,” MCP coach Clint Schwartz said, “Our offensive and defensive lines were the key to the game with very good play from both.”

GRFC running back Dylan Bina kept the Buffaloes in the hunt with two touchdowns, one being a 71-yard run in the third quarter, to close the score to 26-21.

Unfortunately for the Buffaloes, five points was the closest they could get. As the Bearcats opened and closed the game with long drives that ended with touchdown runs by Laubscher.

MCP runs their record to 3-3 on the year and GRFC falls to 4-2. The Bearcats will take on Attica on Oct. 12 while the Buffaloes will play Salt Fork on Friday.
