Mary Miller boys basketball job

GEORGETOWN — Mary Miller Junior High School is looking for a seventh grade boys head basketball coach for the upcoming season.

DTC to hold Fall Clinics

DANVILLE — The Danville Tennis Club will be holding clinics throughout the fall for junior players and high school players.

Three junior clinics will go from Sept. 9- Oct. 21: The pee-wee class is for players ages 3-5 and will run on Mondays from 4-4:30 p.m.; the beginner/advanced beginner will go on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Mondays for juniors ages 6 and up who are not able to serve from the baseline and Future Stars will go from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for juniors who are serving from the baseline and have some tennis experience.

Tournament training will run from Sept. 11-Oct. 23 on Wednesdays from 4-5:30 p.m. The Class is for tournament-level junior players.

Also there will be Ralleyball on Sundays from Oct. 27-Dec. 8 from 1-2 p.m. for players ages 5-12 years old.

The league focuses on beginning junior players and introduces them to the game of tennis. The game is altered slightly by modifying the traditional serve and scoring to make it fun for kids. The sign-up deadline is Oct. 24.

Junior Team Tennis will start with practices on Oct. 26 with matches running from Oct. 27-Dec. 8 on Sundays at 2, 3 or 4 p.m. for players high school age and younger. The sign-up deadline is Oct. 18.

High School clinics will run from Oct. 22 to Dec. 10 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Fun drills and activities and instruction to work on all aspects of the game.

Taste of Downtown Danville 5K

DANVILLE — The Vermilion Advantage’s Leadership Tomorrow Class 25 will host a 5K Fun Run/Walk event in coordination with the Taste of Downtown Danville to raise money and awareness for the Lindley Sign Post Forest beautification project on Sept. 28.
