BROUSSARD, La. — Michael Davan’s first experience on the Web.com tour was both good and bad for the former Bismarck-Henning standout.
Davan, a three-time Danville City and Area champion, fired a 3-under 68 on Friday in the second round of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open at Le Triomphe Country Club in Broussard, La.
Unfortunately, that followed Davan’s opening-round 4-over 75 and it gave the Rossville native a two-round score of 1-over 143, which was four strokes more than the cut-line score of 139.
Davan’s biggest problem in his first two professional rounds on the Web.com Tour was a pair of double bogeys in his first round and one more in Friday’s second round. He also had three bogeys in those 36 holes, while picking up eight birdies.
Also missing the cut on Friday were former PGA Tour winners Guy Boros (144) Scott McCarron (145) and Billy Mayfair (146),
Jonathan Randolph is the leader after two rounds with an 11-under score of 131.

WESTVILLE — Westville senior Dillon Turner matched St. Joseph-Ogden’s Brock Empke pitch for pitch on Friday night.
The two starters each threw seven shutout innings in the non-conference contest, before turning the game over to the team’s respective bullpens.
In the ninth inning, the Spartans scored the game-winning run on a ground out by Hunter Hart, which scored Jake Stewart from third base giving St. Joseph-Ogden a 1-0 victory.
Turner struck out five and allowed just six hits in his seven innings for Westville, which suffered its first loss, falling to 3-1.
Mark Strebin had two of the Tigers’ four hits on Friday, while Kyle Brazas has the game’s only extra-base hit with a double.
Westville is back in action this afternoon with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against the Unity Rockets.
