LINCOLN — The Danville Area Community College men’s basketball team’s season ended on Friday with a 80-77 loss to Lincoln College in the Region 24 playoffs.
DACC coach DaJuan Gouard said the game represented the theme of the season.
“We were up by eight with nine minutes left, but we made some turnovers and with 40 seconds left, we were called for charging and they made some free-throws and they were able to get the win,” Gouard said. “There were 10 or 11 of our losses where we lost by 5-6 points so we make some good plays, but we just come up short.”
Former Danville High star D’Lando Carter had 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Virgil Fleming had 11 points and five rebounds while Kenny Dean and Martin Campbell each added 10 points.
“He (Carter) is going to be missed because he was a local guy and he brought the community in to watch the games,” Gouard said. “He was great to coach.”
The Jaguars end the season with a 14-15 record while Lincoln will play John Wood Community College in the semifinals today.
