LOCAL ROUNDUP: Spezia, Bearcats lose

HOOPESTON —  For Milford coach John Spezia, he sees the start of his run as a learning process.

He got to see how much his new team will have to learn as they lost to Iroquois West 52-42 Monday at the Cornjerker Classic.

“It was different for the players to get the new system tat we are running,” Spezia said. “We played hard but we did not play smart because we gave up fouls and turned the ball over.”

Jeff Cann had 21 points to lead the Bearcats while Wyatt Alt had 10 and Jacob Rogers added two.

Spezia said the team was down a couple of players and when they come back, the Bearcats will improve.

“We are OK for now, but we just need to get all the pieces together,” Spezia said.

The Bearcats will play LeRoy today in the Classic.
