LOCAL ROUNDUP: Storm rebounds against Trojans

POTOMAC — After getting no-hit on Wednesday by Oakwood’s Jake England, the Salt fork baseball team rebounded in a big way on Friday, getting 15 hits to win 16-6 in five innings over Armstrong-Potomac.

Cole Taylor had four hits and two RBIs for the Storm while Ross Learnard had three hits and an RBI, Lane Weston had three RBIs, Garrett McFadden had two RBIS while Noah Darr, Max Stutsman and Jordan Eakle each had one.

Dentler Loschen, Wade Rogers and Lane Esteppe each had one RBI for the Trojans, who is 0-5 and 0-3 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Bismarck-Henning on Monday.


Bis-Henn 7

BISMARCK — Ethan Silva had three RBIs as the Buffaloes defeated the Blue Devils.

Cory Webster had two RBIs for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman while Trevor Price and Garrett Martin each had one.

Patrick Ganley, Kane Richmond and Elijah Astell each had two RBIs for Bismarck-Henning, who drops to 2-3.

Westville 8

Hoopeston Area 3

HOOPESTON — Tanner Cox struck out nine batters as the Tigers cruised past the Cornjerkers.

Cox had all the help he could get with Aaron Marx going 3-for-4 and driving in two runs, Austin Millholland had three RBIs and Tyler Dicken and Jeffery Thompson each had one RBI.

Kendal Walder had two RBIs for Hoopeston Area while Ethan Linder had one.

North Vermillion 7

Riverton Parke 3

CAYUGA, Ind. — Jordan West pitched a no-hitter into the sixth inning as the Falcons beat the Panthers at the Banks of the Wabash Tournament.

Kody Zumwalt had two hits and two RBIs for North Vermillion while Wade Harrison had four hits and a RBI and Devon Sams had an RBI.

The Falcons are 2-4 and 2-0 in the Wabash River Conference and will play Rockville today for the BOW title.



Bis-Henn 16

BISMARCK — Brittany Hay had a grand slam and six RBIs as the Buffaloes won a slugfest against the Blue Devils.

Callan Hall and Catie Brandt each had two RBIs for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman while winning pitcher Lexi Silva got one.

Ashlee Ronto had three hits with two RBIs for Bismarck-Henning while Lauren McKenzie had two RBIs and Lindsey Andrews, Lani Andrews, Lexi Ballard, Emmie Hawkins and Brittney Ribbe each had one RBI.

The Blue Devils are 3-4 and 2-1 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Armstrong-Potomac on Monday.

Salt Fork 10

ARMSTRONG — Kaylee and Emilie McFadden each had two RBIs as the Storm got past the Trojans.

Kayli Learnard, Jenna Bryant and Lea Hall each had one RBI for Salt Fork, who played day this week and will be off until Monday against Westville.

Morgan Zindars took the loss on the mound for Armstrong-Potomac and got an RBI while Megan Porter, Kirsten Newnum and Megan Cain also each had one RBI.

Westville 13

Hoopeston Area 4

HOOPESTON — JoDee Ottino had three RBIs as the Tiger pounded out 12 hits to beat the Cornjerkers.

Ji’Cee Lacey, Bobbi Morris and Katie Swisher each had one RBI for Westville while Carson Richardson picked up the win.

Madie Cline got a RBI for Hoopeston Area, who is 3-3 and 1-2 in the VVC and will face Urbana today.

Westville is 4-3 and 3-1.

North Vermillion 8

CAYUGA, Ind. — Linzi Woodard gave up only three hits on the mound and had two RBIs at the plate as the Falcons defeated the Panthers at the Banks of the Wabash Tournament.

Taylen Balding also had two RBIs for North Vermillion while Lindsey Moore, Whitney McMasters and Melissa Moody each had one RBI.

The Falcons are 4-0 and 2-0 in the Wabash River Conference and will play Rockville in the BOW final today.
