Cardinals find way to defeat Buffaloes in overtime

CHRISMAN — While Ty Bolen did most of the work for the Chrisman boys basketball team on Friday against Georgetown-Ridge Farm, it took a team effort in overtime for the Cardinals to win 61-59 in Vermilion Valley Conference action.

Bolen had 32 points for Chrisman, who was up 28-21 at halftime, but fouled out in the fourth quarter. Tyler Lunger would lead the way for the team, scoring four of his 11 points in overtime, wile Wyatt Avenatti scored his only three points and Tyler Owen added two of his seven points.

Dylan Bina led the Buffaloes with 23 points while Rylee Goodwin had 11 points, Aaron Scott had 10 and Garrett Martin added six.

Both teams will play again today as Georgetown-Ridge Farm will take on Oakwood while Chrisman will travel to Tri-County.

Milford 70, Schlarman 44

DANVILLE — Wade Fox had 19 points as the Bearcats won in their first game since a New Year’s Eve accident to coach John Spezia.

Jeff Cann had 15 points for Milford, who had a 40-14 halftime lead, while Jacob Rogers had 14 and Alex Portwood added 13.

Spezia is still at Carle Hospital and there is no specific time for his release.

Ben Watson had 15 points for the Hilltoppers, while Michael Simmons had 11 and Gannon Hughes added seven.

The Hilltoppers will stay at home today to play Cissna Park.

Bis-Henn 57, Oakwood 40

FITHIAN — Dylan Allen had 18 points as the Blue Devils cruised past the Comets.

Andy Bott and Wilde Garowski each had 10 points for Bismarck-Henning, who had a 28-26 halftime lead but would outscore Oakwood 29-14 in the second half, while Dustyn Ingram had nine and Chase Connelly added eight.

Parker Lee led the Comets with 13 points, while Skyler Slade had 11 and Brian Rice added seven.

Hoopeston Area 62, A-P 39

ARMSTRONG — Brennan Crose had 16 points as the Cornjerkers took a 39-16 halftime lead and held on from there.

Mason Layden had 12 points for Hoopeston Area while Bryce Leigh and Trey Layden each had 10 and Daniel Lawson added six.

Shawn Johnson had 15 points to lead Armstrong-Potomac while Austin Rademacher had nine and Corey Buhr added eight.

The Cornjerkers will take on Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley today.
