Weather continues to slow local action
DANVILLE — Once again, Winter Storm Ion was the winner in the local sports scene.
Tuesday’s Danville at Champaign Centennial boys basketball game has been postponed until Saturday while five Vermilion Valley Conference boys games and two games in girls basketball featuring Wabash River Conference teams were also postponed.
Two of the postponed games from Tuesday, Schlarman Academy at Hoopeston Area and Oakwood at Georgetown-Ridge Farm, were tentatively re-scheduled for tonight, but Hoopeston Area will be closed today and all activities will be cancelled. The Oakwood at Georgetown-Ridge Farm is still tentatively set for 6 p.m. for the junior varsity game and 7:30 p.m for the varsity game.
The Chrisman girls basketball team was scheduled to play Shiloh today but the game has been postponed.
Attica, North Vermillion participate in Coaches vs. Cancer game on Friday
ATTICA, Ind. — The Attica Red Ramblers will be pairing up with the North Vermillion Falcons in a Coaches vs. Cancer game at 6 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday at Attica High School.
The game will raise fund to help support the American Cancer Society. Both teams will be selling tickets that night for a raffle and they will also be selling cards for the Wall of Hope. The cards, which can either honor or be in memory of a loved one that is or has battled cancer, will be hung up at the school.

Cardinals Caravan returns to Champaign
CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign stop on the 2014 St. Louis Cardinals Caravan will be on Jan. 17 at the I Hotel and Conference Center starting at 11 a.m.
The admission to the event is free and beverages will be available for purchase. A Cardinals broadcaster will emcee the event with past and present players sharing stories of the 2013 season and previewing the upcoming season.
