BLOOMINGTON — Danville’s Javeonte Crider continued his undefeated season by winning the 120-pound title at the IHSA regional Saturday at Bloomington High School.
Crider won the title match with a 10-3 decision over Bloomington’s Steven Bishop.
Along with Crider, Travon Wilson won the 152-pound title with a pin of Bloomington’s Cary Ferguson, while Profirio Perez won third place at 145 with a pin of Westville’s Cody Rice.
While Rice missed the chance to advance to next week’s sectional, teammate Tyler Dicken was second at 195 points while Tyson Digby took third at 160 pounds.
All the wrestlers that advanced will go on to sectional action starting Friday at Glenwood.
PREP BOYS BASKETBALL
Westville 54, Schlarman 31
DANVILLE — Dalton Hilligoss had 16 points as the Tigers get past the Hilltoppers.
Jeffery Thompson had 14 points for Westville, who had a 31-12 lead, while Jordan Romo had 12 points while Justin Ottino and Kyle Brazas each added six.
Michael Simmons had 11 points for Schlarman Academy while Gavin Stines and Ben Watson each had five and Chris Kuchefski and Gannon Hughes each added four.
The Hilltoppers will travel to Covington on Monday, while the Tigers will take on Milford on Tuesday.
Milford 55, Salt Fork 37
SHELDON — The Bearcats defense was the star as they were able to shut down the Storm to move into a tie for second place in the Vermilion Valley Conference.
Alex Portwood had 20 points for Milford, who had a 26-15 halftime lead, while Jeff Cann had 13 points, Wade Fox had eight and Jacob Rogers and Tanner Davenport each had seven.
Max Stutsman had 17 for Salt Fork, while Cole Taylor had nine and Noah Darr chipped in seven. Milford’s defense held Salt Fork guard Ross Learnard scoreless.
The Bearcats are 14-2 and 6-2 in the VVC and will play leaders Bismarck-Henning on Monday which will mark the return of head coach John Spezia after a car accident in January. The Storm will travel to Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Tuesday.
