Moore makes most of birthday for Illinois women

CHAMPAIGN — Illinois women’s basketball guard Amber Moore made the most of her final birthday of her college career with 26 points as the Illini defeated Tennessee-Martin 77-62 at the State Farm Center.

Moore scored 16 of those points in the first half as Illinois had a 34-25 halftime lead. She was 10-for-19 from the field and 6-of-12 from the 3-point line, moving her into seventh place on the Big Ten career list with 251.

Alexis Smith had 11 points, seven rebounds and nine assists for the Illini, while Jacqui Grant had 12 points and Sarah Hartwell had 11 points with five assists.

The Illini are 7-5 and 6-0 at home and will go on the road Dec. 28 where they will be playing the No. 16 Georgia Bulldogs.

Covington 47, North Montgomery 46

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Chandler Spring had 22 points and two steals as the Trojans got past North Montgomery.

Jordan Ahrens had nine points, five assists and five rebounds for Covington, who was up 23-21 at halftime, while Travis Coleman added eight points.

The Trojans will next play Jan. 3 at the Bi-County Tournament against Attica.

West Lafayette 58, Attica 28

ATTICA, Ind. — Brady Sheridan had 11 points, but it was not enough as the Red Ramblers did not have enough offense to hang with the Red Devils.

Kenny Little had nine points for Attica, while Bryce Cooper ahd six points and two assists.

Danville ninth at Raider Invite

BLOOMINGTON — Tristan Wolfe had the highest individual finish for the Vikings with a eighth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (24.44 seconds) as the team took ninth in the Raider Invite hosted by Bloomington High School.

Antonio Sanchez was nine in diving (228.45) while the 200 medley relay team of Wolfe, Logan McBee, Lucas Miller and Jordan Ledesma was eighth (1:53.97) while the 400 relay team of Max Shannon, Ledesma, Keith Miller and Wolfe ended up ninth (4:03.67).
