DACC (6-7) had a 28-25 halftime lead with Fleming coming off the bench to be a defensive spark to build the lead at halftime.
“Coach tells me to bring energy when I come off the bench and that’s what I try to do,” Fleming said.
On consecutive plays, Fleming got a steal that led to a dunk by Carter and the next play down Fleming got a steal and lay-up to help retake the lead.
The score was 19-18 with three minutes to go in the first half when Joseph English, came alive with two quick buckets and five points to push the DACC lead to five points.
Carter and Fleming were the only players to score in double figures for the Jaguars. Carter had a team-high 13, it’s the 10th time this season that the former Danville High standout has scored in double figures. Fleming finished with 11.
Andrenos Powell had a game-high 18 for the Chargers (3-8), while Demetrius Adams had 17 and Juwan Johnson finished with 13.
Gouard, in his first season at DACC, was one of four NCAA Division I athletes in the Mary Miller Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Former Danville High standouts Justin March (a junior linebacker at Akron) and Chuckie Robinson (a freshman catcher at Southern Mississippi) were in the stands as was current Danville High football standout Trent Sherfield, who has committed to play at Vanderbilt next season.
