Schlarman boys soccer coach Ed Barney joined an elite class of soccer coaches in the state on Tuesday as he picked up his 100th career win in the Hilltoppers’ 6-0 win over Salt Fork/Westville.
“This is a good win for the program and it is a nice accomplishment,” Barney said. “But it could not be done without all of the players and my assistant coach (Sam Farren) who has been with the programs since the beginning.”
Brett Carroll had two goals for Schlarman with Brock Drews, Weston DePratt, Zane Dillon and Scott Showers all adding goals. Refugio Guerrero had two assists and Michael Bateman, Adam Pellegrini and DePratt each had one.
Trace Johnson had three saves for the Hilltoppers, who are 9-3-2 and 4-1 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will face Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning on Thursday.

FITHIAN — Ian Park scored two goals in the second half as the Cornjerkers cruised past the Comets.
Matt Silver scored a goal in the first half and Kraig Van Wieringen and Jordan Flint each had one assists.
Mahlon Schmid had five saves for Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning, who are 8-5-2 overall and 4-2 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will face Schlarman on Thursday.

Shell wins at Southmont
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — North Vermillion’s Austin Shell took the top individual spot in a meet with Attica, Fountain Central, Notre Dame De La Salette and Southmont with a time of 17 minutes, 54 seconds.
Fountain Central’s Mark Beight was second (18:24) and Attica’s Michael Mattern was fourth (18:52).
The Falcons as a team was second with 40 points to Notre Dame’s 34.

Mustangs win team meet at Southmont
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Carolyn Trueblood was second individually with a time of 21 minutes, 44 seconds as Fountain Central beat out North Vermillion, Southmont and Attica.
MacKenzie Sheldon was third (22:53) for the Mustangs, who scored 41 points. Bethany Chew was fifth (24:17) for North Vermillion, who was second as a team with 46 points. Taylor Evans was fourth (23:54) for Attica, who was fourth with 76 points.

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — The doubles teams of Ryan Synesael and Addison Newell and Nick Sewell and Taylor Hanthorne each got wins for the Patriots, but it was not enough against Southmont.
Seeger drops to 9-7 and will take on Attica on Thursday.

MARSHALL, Ind. — Jake Gray got the only win for the Trojans at No. 1 singles in their loss to Turkey Run.
Covington ends its regular season at 5-12 and will play Attica in sectional action on Friday.

DANVILLE — Lisa LeCleir, Carrie Zillman and Stephanie Rollins each had 6-0, 6-0 wins as the Vikings easily defeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
In doubles, the teams of LeCleir and Alexis Julian and Christine Janesky and Melissa Fuesting each won by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

DANVILLE — Ashley LeLoup had four kills for the Vikings, but it was not enough as they lost to the Chargers 25-17, 25-14 in Big 12 Conference action.
McKenzie Hodges had seven assists and Morgan Kings and Bethany Ziegler each had eight digs and a ace for Danville, who is 6-10 and 1-3 in the Big 12 and will travel to Paris today.

BISMARCK — Hannah Ohl and Kristen Tuggle each had five kills as the Blue Devils remained undefeated in the Vermilion Valley Conference after beating the Tigers 25-8, 25-21.
Jeni Free had seven assists and five blocks for Bismarck-Henning, Courtney Renken had four kills and three aces, Cassie McCorkle had seven blocks, two kills and two aces and Alexis Walsh had four blocks.
The Blue Devils are 10-2 overall and 6-0 in the VVC and will face Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Thursday.

HOOPESTON — Serving was the key for the Storm in their 25-5, 25-8 win over the Cornjerkers as Hannah Wilkins served 13 straight points in the first game along with five aces.
Wilkins and Maddie Stutsman combined for 35 service points in the win with Wilkins picking up seven aces and Stutsman five.
Mallory Meade had six kills, and Kristen Cox had four kills and three blocks.
Alicia Ron had two kills, a block, an ace and 12 digs for Hoopeston Area while Lyndey Braddock had 11 digs and a block and Erin Henk had two assists.

DANVILLE — Serena Calhoun had three kills, four aces and five digs to lead the Hilltoppers past the Buffaloes, 25-6, 25-10.
Schlarman’s Sarah Barrett had a match-high six kills, while GraceRolnicki contributed 12 service points.
Sam Smith led Georgetown-Ridge Farm with two kills and two blocks and Karson Gragert added 10 digs.

MILFORD — Ashley McKay had six kills for the Bearcats, but they lost to the Comets 26-24, 25-23.
Colleen Quigley had 11 digs and Julie Estay had 17 service points for Milford who is 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Chrisman on Thursday.

ARMSTRONG — The Trojans lost the first game 25-9 and could not recover in time in the second game, losing 25-17 to the Cardinals.
The Trojans are 8-9 and 4-2 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Westville on Thursday.

DANVILLE — Rachel Wells had six kills and Jessica Greer and Charity Fester each had five kills for the Knights, who lost 19-25, 25-21, 25-21 to Arthur/Okaw Prairie Christian.
Brittani Wasson had 10 assists and Greer had three aces for First Baptist, who is 4-9 and will play Ravenswood Baptist on Thursday.
