ROUNDUP: Tigers down Buffaloes

Junior Jacob Gooch had Westville’s only field goal in overtime as the Tigers defeated the Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes 56-52.
In addition to Gooch’s 3-pointer, the Tigers were also 5-of-8 at the free-throw line in the overtime session.
The Buffaloes rallied from a seven-point deficit starting the fourth quarter to send the game in overtime.
Chase Vire scored nine of his team-high 15 during Georgetown-Ridge Farm’s final period rally.
Dustin Billings had game-high honors with 18 points for Westville. Also scoring in double digits for the Tigers were Gooch with 12 and Chris Hathaway had 14.
Joining Vire in double figures for the Buffaloes was Alex Pratt with 12, including all four of his team’s points in overtime.

Hoopeston Area 44

MILFORD — In a back-andforth game Tuesday, Hoopeston Area led 35-34 after the third quarter. Milford came back strong in the final quarter outscoring the Cornjerkers 18-9 for the win.
Senior Ryan Kunce scored a game-high 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Jordan Scherf added 11 points, including three 3-pointers to the winning cause.
Brad Lawson led for the Cornjerkers with 13 points, while Clayton Snyder chipped in 10.
Next up, Milford faces Salt Fork on Friday.

Armstrong-Potomac 42

ARMSTRONG — After a tie score in the first quarter 10-10, Bismarck-Henning led at halftime 26-14 and never gave up the lead after that.
Michael Grant led for the Blue Devils with a game-high 18 points, including three 3-pointers. Also scoring in double digits were Chase Robinson with 12 and Tanner Ribbe with 10.
Jeff Creighton led for Armstrong-Potomac with a team-high 15 points.
Salt Fork 61
Oakwood 40

JAMAICA — Salt Fork led at halftime 37-18 and never gave up the lead.
David Keenan led for Salt Fork with a team-high 10 points. Rileigh Darnell chipped in nine.
Brady Leeman led for Oakwood with a game-high 12 points but it was not enough. Also scoring in double digits for Oakwood, Alex Cundiff added 11 points.
First Baptist 77
Pekin Christian 25

DANVILLE — First Baptist outscored Pekin Christian in the first quarter 22-5 and never looked back.
Daniel Wells and David Ellermets led for First Baptist, both scoring 21 points each. Also scoring in double digits was Chris Ames who added ten points to the cause.

Milford 20

CATLIN — Salt Fork outscored Milford in the first quarter 17-6 and never looked back.
Mallory Meade led for Salt Fork with a game-high 23 points, four rebounds and two assists. Also in double digits for the Storm, rated No. 9 in Class 1A, was Mallory Weber with 15 points, five rebounds and six assists.
Julie Estay led for the Lady Cats with a team-high eight points.
Fountain Central 48
Covington 28

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — The Lady Mustangs were outscored in the first quarter 10-7, but came back strong and by the third quarter led 38-22.
Senior Natalie Robinson led for Fountain Central with a game-high 16 points. Junior Lauren Krout contributed 12.
Whitney Allen led for Covington with a team-high 10 points. Taryn Kellams chipped in eight.
Next up, Fountain Central plays Turkey Run on Saturday.
North Montgomery 46
Seeger 40

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Freshman Kelcey Swisher scored a team-high 10 points for Seeger in a losing cause. Brianna Hensley and Madison Tarter each chipped in six points.
North Montgomery led at halftime 24-14 and never gave up the lead.

Falcons’ Julick sets new school record

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — North Vermillion Quentin Bemis placed first in the 50-yard free. Cole Julick placed second in diving. Julick also broke the school record in six dives with a time of 211.30. Lucas Hatcher placed second and had a lifetime best in the 200 free.
Next, North Vermillion will be at Attica on Thursday.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Chew wins two evens for North Vermillion

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Hannah Chew placed first for North Vermillion in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 500 free. Malori Rudolph placed first in the 50 free and the 100 free. Chew, Rudolph, Sammy Jones and Haeli Denton all placed first in the 400 freestyle relay.
Next, North Vermillion will be at Attica on Thursday.

Unity 37

BISMARCK — Bismarck-Henning won seven matches, three by pin, against Unity in a Tuesday contest.
Miles Mitchell and Mason Henry won victories by pin for the Blue Devils at 112 and 152 pounds.

Salt Fork 20

CATLIN — Joselin Vilejac and Shavon Morris each picked up pins as the Vikings beat the Storm. Danville also picked up eight wins by forfeit in the match.
Rob Lane had the only pin for Salt Fork.

WESTVILLE — Ethan Ervin’s technical fall and Andrew Colunga’s pin carried the Cornjerkers past the Tigers.
Westville’s Dustin Zaayer got his team’s only pin, while Justin Moore and Corey Dicken won decisions.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Taylor Hanthorn picked up a pin at 112 pounds, while Zach Mukai got the fall at 285 pounds for the Patriots only victories.
