Lonnie R. Johnson Sr.
POTOMAC — Lonnie R. Johnson Sr., 66, of Potomac, lost his battle with lung cancer at 5:35 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Lonnie was born on Oct. 10, 1940, in Danville, the son of Arliss O. and Edith Glynes Johnson. He married Loretta Sue Kinney. She survives along with their children, Lonnie Johnson Jr. of Westville, Teresa (Gregory) Smith of Rantoul and Robert (Erica) Johnson of Danville. Grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and Tyler Johnson; and a great-granddaughter, Avery Johnson. He later married Roberta M. Falconer. She preceded him on Aug. 8, 1998. He was also preceded by his parents, a brother, Carol Johnson, and a sister, Darlene Juvinall.
Lonnie retired as maintenance supervisor after 30 years of service with Provena USMC. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and yard work. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini fan. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and family who will greatly miss him.
A celebration of Lonnie’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Miles Clark officiating.
