Mary Teresa Kropp, 86, of Danville, formerly of Allentown, Pa., passed away at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville.
Mary was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., the daughter of Thomas and Loretta (Nash) Toomey.
She married Paul Milton Kropp on May 5, 1950, in Allentown, Pa. He preceded her in death on Oct.25, 1991.
She is survived by four daughters, Maryellen (Ted) Baer of Danville, Barbara (Tom) Sanborn of Santa Barbara, Calif., Kathleen Kropp of Harleysville, Pa., and Beth (Shawn) Hankins of King George, Va.; one son, Gary Kropp of Ft. Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Peter Tercha, Andrew Tercha, Edward Baer, Ben Hankins, Mary Kate Hankins, Virginia Hankins and Tony Hankins; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.
Mary graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pa. She attended nursing school at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pa., where she became a registered nurse. While living in Pennsylvania and Florida, she was very active in the Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending her time doing volunteer work in Florida, in the local thrift shop and taking blood pressures.
Mary also enjoyed reading, playing golf, traveling and playing cards. She was always known for changing the rules when she started to lose to her grandchildren while playing cards. Her proudest accomplishment was that she raised five very successful children, all of whom graduated from college.
Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded by the Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac. Services will be held at a later date in Allentown, Pa.
