Verna Schultz Hines

TAVARES, Fla. — Verna Schultz Hines died suddenly Aug. 2, 2013, in Tavares, Fla.

She was born Aug. 19, 1945, in Mt. Sterling, Ky., but considered Danville, Ill., her hometown.

She spent the happiest years of her life with her soul mate and surviving husband, C. Mirl Hines, also from Danville, while living in Mesa, Ariz., then Tavares, Fla.

Verna had many loving friends throughout the U.S. and was passionate about keeping in touch with all of them. Just prior to her death, she was blessed to have the opportunity to visit many of her family and friends while traveling to Danville. Verna treasured the love of family and friends and paid that love forward every day. She had a zest for life that seemed to surround her at all times. Music was her poetry, and dancing was her passion.

Verna collected angel figurines and held a firm belief that she had guardian angels who always kept watch over her and those that she loved. Though her absence is felt in every moment, her family and friends have faith that heaven has a new angel to watch over them and continue to radiate her love back to them.

Verna enjoyed retired life with Mirl after leaving Pringle Development, Tavares, Fla., in 2007. She managed the office of Dr. D. Baker in Logansport, Ind., for many years before moving to Indianapolis, where she worked at Simon Property Group.

Verna is survived by her soul mate and husband, Mirl Hines; daughters, Rachelle “Rikki” Minyard (Tracy Rowell) and Jodi (Mike) Tomey; stepdaughter, Lauren (Jan) Hines-Roselle; grandchildren, Alicia (Gabe) McClain-Ford, Ryan (Kailani) McClain, Charley Tomey and Sam Tomey; step-grandchildren, Richie Roselle and Jesse Roselle; great-grandchild, Jonathan McClain, 4 months, and baby Ford expected to arrive March 2014. She also is survived by her mother, Mildred D. Schultz; and brother, Jim (Jackie) Schultz.
