ARCOLA — Ronald Lee Porter, 70, of Arcola and formerly of Higginsville, died at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Arcola Healthcare.

Per his wishes, Ronald will be cremated. A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.

Ronald was born on March 4, 1943, in Camden, Ohio, to Glen and Ethel (Baker) Porter. He attended Northeast School and was baptized in 1984 at St. Paul’s Church in Danville.

Ronald was a lifelong resident of Higginsville and enjoyed walking down the road and sitting on his porch smoking his corncob pipe.

Ronald leaves behind his two nieces, Kim (Terry) Morlan and Deana Hopkins; and his four nephews, Mark Hopkins, Randy Hopkins, Roger (Julia) Porter and Rick (Patti) Porter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Porter; and four sisters, Shirley Hopkins, Doris Weed, Fern Hoskins and Evelyn Dempsey.
