George Thomas Wilson, 78, of Danville, died at 2:43 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville with Pastor David Garver officiating. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Pape’s. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery.
George was born Aug. 16, 1934, in Lebanon, Ky., to George Henry and Vesta Lee (Bunch) Wilson. He attended grade school in Louisville, Shelby County, Kentucky. He had farmed in Shelby County before moving to Danville in 1952.
He had worked at General Motors Central Foundry and had been a heavy equipment operator with McCalman Construction at 615 Section in Danville. He was a member of UAW Local 579 and Operating Engineers Local 41.
He had a passion for golf, boat trips and NASCAR. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George married Louise Browning in 1951; she survives. He later married Shirley Ann Billings Ervin on April 2, 1984, by Pastor David Garver in Danville and she survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Dianna (Albert) Foster, Wendy Brown and Heidi (James) Pertell, all of Danville; three stepchildren, Linda (Tim) Pickett, Cheryl (Dean) Morrison and Cecil Ervin; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, James Wilson, Woodrow (Judy) Wilson and Lynn Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vesta Wilson; two daughters, Patricia Wilson and Linda Runyan; and three brothers, Robert Wilson, Eugene Wilson and Charles Wilson.
