Elizabeth F. Ray, 90, of Danville, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at North Logan Health Care in Danville.
She was born on July 13, 1922, in Collison, the daughter of Ople and Mary A. Conyers Strader.
She married Lionel L. Ray on April 7, 1946. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two children, Susie (Mark) Willard of Rossville and Lowell (Margaret) Ray of Peoria; a sister, Wilma O’Banion; and four grandchildren, Philip (Whitney) Ray, Brian Ray, Andrea (Dan) Buechsenschuetz, and Allison Willard. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Armstrong High School and had worked for the Vermilion County Clerk’s Office for 18 years. She also was a past member of the Northland Church of Christ.
She enjoyed reading, but especially loved spending time with her family.
Elizabeth had been a resident at North Logan Health Care for the past two years, where she was loved by those who knew her and cared for her. Her family would like to graciously thank the staff at North Logan for their care, affection and support.
A service to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Ray will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, Danville. Pastor Tom Schoenherr will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, also at Sunset in Danville.
