Barbara Ann Schomburg, 81, of Fairmount, died at 10:03 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at her home.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Pape’s.
Barbara was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Teaneck, N.J., to Merwin Hartley Dick and Opal Marie Stucker.
She attended schools in New Jersey and graduated from Main High School in Park Ridge in 1949. She had been an owner-partner with her husband at Schomburg & Schomburg Construction of Danville. She had been an avid golfer at Blue Needles and Kiawah, S.C.
Barbara married Richard Schomburg on Dec. 28, 1978, in Reno, Nev., and he survives. Also surviving is a son, Charles Cofoid; stepchildren, Mark Schomburg and Susan (Jeff) Kitts; grandchildren, Charles Cofoid Jr., Matthew and Alex Kitts and Jake and Kyle Schomburg; and a sister, Virginia (Melvin) Roberts.
She was preceded by her parents.
Barbara treated the construction company employees, in the office and in the field, as though they were her family.
