Cassius was born April 20, 1955, in Flora to Cassius Arbert and Wanda Alice Hutchcraft Rush Sr. His mother, Wanda (James) Long, survives of Tilton.

He married Julie Kennedy in Champaign in 1988. She survives in Covington, Ind.

Also surviving are one son, Kalin Rush of Covington, Ind.; one daughter, Kiearra (Blake) Cadman of Covington, Ind.; one brother, Henry “Drew” (Vicki) Rush of Danville; one sister, Jewel Johnson of Tilton, with whom he resided; three stepbrothers, Steve, Jeff and Bruce Long; two stepsisters, Kathy (Jeff) Taylor and Lisa (Shawn) Wilkus; by his side throughout his illness was his nephew, James “Piggy” Stockton of Tilton; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; dear lifetime friend, Glenda Ford of Tilton; and too many close friends to mention whom he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his father and his friend and brother-in-law, Stan Johnson.

Cassius worked for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad for 33 years alongside his loving stepfather, James E. Long.

He loved playing music, listening and singing, especially karaoke, mushroom hunting, but, most of all, riding his Harley Davidson along with his extended family of brothers and sisters.

For many years he was active in the Vermilion Handicap Association. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He will be missed deeply.
