Lorraine Adella Lehmann

DANVILLE — Lorraine Adella Lehmann, 94, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

She was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Luverne, Minn., to William F. Kuehl and Elta Louise Stelling but has lived in Danville, Ill., for most of her life (68 years).

Lorraine was united in marriage with John F. “Jack” Lehmann (deceased) in Alamogordo, N.M., on June 20, 1944, and they shared 61 years together. She had two sons, Jeffrey Allen Lehmann (deceased) of Houston, Texas, and J. Randall “Randy” Lehmann of Des Moines, Iowa.

Lorraine enjoyed golf, gardening, sewing, singing and was active in the work of the Lord through Trinity Lutheran Church. She was involved in Eunice Society Altar Guild and the church choir. Music filled her heart. She belonged to a 150-member Swedish choir in Chicago, the Vermilion Festival Chorus and the Danville chapter of Sweet Adelines. She played the organ, piano and sang for the sheer pleasure of it. She was a charter member of Vermillion Hills Country Club and belonged to the Danville Garden Club.

Lorraine started her career as a beautician at the Palmer House in Chicago during World War II. After marriage, Lorraine worked for 36 years with her husband and in-laws at Lehmann Brothers Ace Hardware in Danville.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Randy Lehmann (Susan) of Des Moines, Iowa, and daughter-in-law, Linda Lehmann of Houston, Texas.

She had six grandchildren, Lori (Randy) Bergeron, Lindsay (Jeff) Janek, Brandon (Emily) Lehmann, Lisa (Ed) Bovermann, Kyle (Jeannette) Lehmann and Justin (Brooke) Lehmann. She had six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Jackson, Laney, Lucy and Lilly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son, Jeff; parents, Walter and Elta Kuehl; sisters, Marietta Drake and Lucille Hoyme; and three brothers, Elmer Kuehl, William “Bill” Kuehl and Walter “Bud” Kuehl.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville with service following. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Trinity Lutheran Church.
