Rosalie 'Rosie' Allen

---- — Rosalie “Rosie” Allen, 91, died at 2:30 p.m. EST Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at her home of many years south of Covington, Ind.

She was born Sept. 29, 1922, at Bono, Ind., the daughter of Marion G. and D Emma (Lowry) Rhoads.

Rosie graduated from Cayuga (Ind.) High School and was a resident of Eugene, Ind., before moving to the Stringtown area in 1940. She had been employed at Perrysville High School, Fountain Trust Company, Wallace Law Office, Olin and retired from Flexel.

She was an excellent swimmer, rollerskater and dancer. Rosie always made Christmas a magical time. She was a member of Kingman American Legion Auxiliary.

Rosalie married Millard “Mutt” Allen on October 4, 1940, in Waterloo, Iowa.

He survives with three children, Deanna (Gary) Demes of Bloomington, Ind., Dennis (Suzy) Allen of rural Covington and Dawn (William) Blake of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her parents and a sister preceded her in death.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. EST Saturday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Services will begin at 2 p.m. EST Sunday Jan. 26, in Stringtown Church of God with Pastor Keith Klossner officiating. Interment in Coal Creek Cemetery.
