TOLONO — John F. Woodard, 70, of Tolono, passed away at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
John was born March 19, 1943, in Danville to Fred and Velma Bradford Woodard.
He married Opal Waltermire June 16, 1990, in Catlin.
Opal survives as well as four sons, Timothy D. (Cyndy) Woodard of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Jeff (Angela) Woodard of Maidens, Va., John M. Woodard of Westville and Bob (Jennifer) Woodard of Tuscola; two stepsons, Curt (Ann) Waltermire of Valley Center, Kan., and Keith (Lori) Waltermire of Tolono; one brother, Dean (Sonya) Woodard of Fairmount; five sisters, Gladys (Pete) Elsberg of Westville, Zoe Ann (Darold) Street of Fairmount, Dorothy (Bob) Moreman of Westville, Rosie (Wally) Yeazel of Fairmount and Mary Yeazel of Homer; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one brother, Lester.
John was a warehouse inspector for the USDA for 26 years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed mushroom hunting. He was a Cardinal’s baseball fan as well as Chicago Bears and Illini fan. John collected Roy Rogers memorabilia and was a member of First Christian Church of Champaign.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Robison Chapel in Catlin, Pastor Don Orr to officiate. Burial in: the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, west of Catlin.
