---- — CATLIN — Caroline J. Tinder, 86, of Catlin, passed away at 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village Nursing Center in Chrisman.

She was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Danville to Carl H. and Ida Mae Strickett Bahls.

Caroline married Billy Junior Tinder Sr. on Feb. 1, 1946, in Danville. He passed away June 30, 1984.

Survivors include three daughters, Paula (Keith) Roark of Catlin, Pam (Mike) Berlin of Hoopeston, and Penny Cope of Danville; one sister, Mary Medin of Newton N.C.; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Billy J. Tinder II; one infant daughter; and three brothers.

Caroline enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing. She was always there to help her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Catlin Methodist Church and a 60-year resident of Catlin.

Funeral services: noon Friday at Catlin United Methodist Church with Pastor Nancy Wilson officiating. Burial in Jones Grove Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until services Friday at the church.
