---- — DANVILLE — Alice Darlene Cofield was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Carmi, Ill., to Verla Portee Dowden.
Alice graduated high school and proceeded to college in Terre Haute, Ind. She received an LPN degree and was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital and later retired.
Alice was married to Larry Cofield and attended Second Baptist Church. She was a very active member and served on the trustee board and sang in the choir. She attended church faithfully and diligently before her health began to decline.
Alice transitioned from earth to glory at 10:55 a.m. Jan. 17, 2014, at Danville Care Center.
She leaves to cherish her life, legacy and love: two sons, Kirk L. Allensworth and Derrick (Debbie) Darnell, both of Danville; two daughters, Delinure (Clarence) Bannerman of Danville and North Carolina and Cheryl Allensworth of Danville. She also leaves 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special friends, Robert Easley, Reginald Cloyd, Mark Gray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and three sons.
A life tribute service will commence at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Second Baptist Church, 940 N. Franklin St., Danville. A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating: the Rev. Don Russell. Interment: Danville National Cemetery. Per her wishes, she was cremated. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
