James “Jim” Edward Cessna, 78, of Birmingham, Ala., passed away on Jan. 14, 2014.
He was born in Danville, Ill., on Dec. 7, 1935. He enjoyed working part time with his family at Pasquale’s Pizza Gardendale. He also enjoyed Alabama football and watching his grandson play T-ball.
He was married to the love of his life, Peggy. He loved his family very much and was a wonderful husband, father, papa (pops) and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Gladys Cessna; brother, Ken Cessna; and grandson, Derek Wilkinson.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Loggins Cessna; daughters, Pam Wilkinson (Glenn) and Patti Cardwell (Mike); son, Mike Cessna of Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Patricia Nicoson of Danville, Norma Clark (Everett) of Danville and Carol Jones (Chuck) of Fithian; brothers, Jack (Judy) Cessna and Bob (Janelle) Cessna, both of Danville; sister-in-law, Alberta Cessna of Oakwood; grandchildren, Natalie Wilkinson, Brittney Gossett, Art Bice, Morgan (Doug) Lane, Anna Melissa (Stan) Way, Audrey Cardwell, Kristi, Michael and Madison Cessna; great-grandchildren, Braxton and Derek; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will begin at at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville is in charge.
