CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Robert “Bob” Martin, formerly of Crawfordsville, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Joanne’s House/Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Fla.
Bob was born Sept. 10, 1940, at Danville, Ill., to Robert Woods Martin and Veronica Carmody Martin Sears.
He graduated from Danville High School in 1958 and from the University of Illinois in 1965, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He served in the Illinois National Guard from 1962-1969.
He married Mary Eileen Egan on Aug. 14, 1965. She survives.
Also surviving are children, Rob (Becky) Martin of Medina, Ohio, and Terri (Edmond) Simpson of Crawfordsville; and grandchildren, Emilee and Allison Martin, Medina, Ohio, Tommy and Taylin Edwards, Crawfordsville, and Drew Simpson, Danville.
Bob worked at Hyster Company in Danville and Crawfordsville for 25 years. He was a materials/purchasing manager at Raybestos Products for 15 years. He retired in 2003. He and Eileen moved to Bonita Springs, Fla., in 2005. He worked at the Publix Grocery store in Bonita Springs as an Aprons Cook for five years. Bob had a passion for cooking and loved sports. He had been failing in health since November 2012.
Cremation was chosen. Services are being held Jan. 18. Visitation starts at 11 a.m., with Mass following at noon at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Crawfordsville, Ind. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Pkwy, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
