Tracey Darlene Williams

The Commercial-News

---- — In loving memory of Tracey Darlene Williams

On Nov. 26, 1963, a beautiful baby girl named Tracey Darlene Williams was born to Oscar L. Sr. and Maddie L. (Humphries) Williams in Danville. She was the youngest of six children.

Tracey, lovingly nicknamed “Trace,” “Day-dee” and “Chick-a-doc” by her siblings, attended Garfield and North Ridge junior high schools. She was a 1981 graduate of Danville High School where she was a member of the Pompettes Squad. She then attended Danville Area Community College, Danville, and Parkland College in Champaign.

Tracey was formerly employed at Walgreens Accounting and Danville Housing Authority. She then worked as an administrative assistant to the CEO of Carle Hospital in Champaign until illness forced her to retire in 2010.

Tracey enjoyed shopping, music, going to movies and concerts and entertaining friends and family in her home. She was a talented interior decorator, gardener and all around “Miss Fix-It.” She loved traveling, dining out and spending time with her fiancé and soul-mate, Andre Arrington, who survives.

Tracey accepted Christ and was baptized at Union Baptist Church by the late Rev. Cecil Webb. At Union, she was a member of the youth choir. Upon moving to Champaign, Tracey joined Bethel AME Church in Champaign under the Rev. Roosevelt Lindsey.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” — II Timothy 4:7-8

God called Tracey to eternal rest at 3 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Champaign-Urbana Regional Rehabilitation Center in Savoy.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life: her mother, Maddie Williams of Danville; siblings, Oscar Jr. (Ofelia) of Danville, Maddie Williams-Tate of Country Club Hills, Linda Williams-Rowell (Glen), Tammy Williams and Ann (Todd) Ault, all of Danville; brother-in-law, Michael O’Keefe (Alma) of Glen Ellyn; special mom, Mrs. Claudette Arrington of Savoy; and her best friend who loved her dearly, Ms. Tonya Davis of Danville; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Malik Aziz; father, Oscar Williams Sr.; sister, Katherine Williams-O’Keefe; maternal and paternal grandparents; and nephew, Torrence T. Williams.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rowland, Dr. Tinder and the nurses and staff of Carle Hospital in Urbana for the care given to Tracey during her illness.

A celebration of life will commence at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Bethel AME Church, 401 E. Park St., Champaign. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A public viewing will commence from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville. Officiating: Pastor Larry Lewis. Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery.
