Ronald 'Ug' Trosper

---- — TILTON — Ronald “Ug” Trosper, 67, of Tilton, passed away at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center.

He was born on Dec. 3, 1946, in Danville, the son of John W. and Betty (Watson) Trosper.

He is survived by his soul mate and “boss” of 23 years, Peggy Jaeger Boggess of Tilton; his mother, Betty Trosper of Danville; four children, Mark (Kim) Sells of Westville, Heather (Marcelo) Ledesma of Danville, Shannon (Robert Fry) Trosper of Danville, and Ryan (Jodi Reed) Trosper of Danville; four brothers, Larry (Mary) Hill of Texas, Bill (Mary Ann) Kingore of Tilton, Larry (Ethel) Kingore of Westville, and John “Buck” Trosper of Oklahoma; one sister, Donna Hood of Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren as well as Peggy’s son, Eric (Laura) Boggess of Cayuga, Ind., and their two children.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Terry “Dode” Trosper.

Ron was a 1965 graduate of Danville High School and was the first Viking mascot. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 and also attended Eastern Illinois University as well as Southern Illinois University. Ron worked for the Hyster Company and Quaker Oats and was a self-employed mechanic. He was an avid builder and driver of several race cars. Ron enjoyed woodworking, gardening, plowing snow and spending time with his special dog, Zoey. Ron was a wonderful father, grandfather and a great friend to many. He will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Ronald’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Pastor James Blue officiating. A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home. Per the family’s wishes, please dress in comfortable clothes. That’s the way Ron would want it. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery.
