LEAWOOD, Kan. —
Julia J. Andre, 94, of Leawood, Kan., formerly of Danville, died at 6:39 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Grace Gardens Assisted Living in Leawood.
She was born on Nov. 9, 1918, in Danville to Simon and Delia Rokoske.
She married Octave Ernest Andre on June 20, 1936, in Danville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Michael Octave (Janie) Andre of Danville; two daughters, Patricia Jean (Robert) Perszyk of Overland Park, Kan., and Jeanette Kay Andre of Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Veronica Grimail of Deland, Fla., and Frances Grimes of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Robert Perszyk, Emily Carter, Joseph Layden, Eric Layden, Patty Lou Andre, Ernie Andre and Michael Andre; and great-grandchildren, Gabby, Zachary, Autumn, Julianna, Israel, Bella, Victoria, Mason, Shay, Orion and Michael.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Douglas Layden, and a brother, Leo Rokoske.
Julia was a 1936 graduate of Danville High School and was a member at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
She liked to study weeds and wildflowers and enjoyed gardening, having been a past member of the Garden Club. She also liked crossword puzzles, cooking and embroidering.
A Mass of Christian burial for Julia Andre will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Danville. Father Greg Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville, with a recitation of the rosary at 4:30 p.m. prior. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Danville.
