— John David Combest, 73, of Danville, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Provena United Medical Center.

Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams, is in charge of arrangements. Per his wishes John will be cremated.

John was born Nov. 21, 1939, in Champaign County to William and Hallie Ada Combest. After high school, John went to trade school and became a plasterer. He joined the Local 143 union and eventually started his own business, Combest Plastering.

In 1960 he married Nancy Jane Estes. John and Nancy lived happily together for 54 years, which is a testament to the love they shared. John could always be seen repairing and remodeling his rental properties. He was known to be a master plasterer, which is something his grandson, Ryan, wishes he picked up. John also loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren, which usually involved a game of basketball.

John was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife and daughter, Susan Jayne English; three grandchildren, Ryan English, Sarah Gary and Nick Covington; and five great-grandchildren, Tarayce, Kristian, Tarajier, Ryien and Aiden.

John will be sorely missed by all those he touched. A private gathering of family and friends will be at a later date. Family would like memorials made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Guest register: www.papemortuary.com
