RIDGE FARM —
Mary Lois (Voorhees) Jones, 93, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Hawthorne Inn of Danville.
Mary was born June 16, 1919, in Danville to Felix and Ruby Ruth Luckey Farmer.
She married Charles L. Voorhees on June 22, 1938, at University Place Christian Church in Urbana. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1965. She later married Donald Dale Jones on April 12, 1968. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1996.
Surviving are one son, Larry (Jan) Voorhees of Danville; one grandson, Chris (Lydia) Voorhees of Issaquah, Wash.; one granddaughter, Stacey (Mike) Lomax of Danville; and four great-grandchildren, Brayden and Collin Lomax of Danville and Elizabeth and Catherine Voorhees of Issaquah, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her brother, George Farmer, in 2012.
Mary graduated from Danville High School in 1937. She had attended the First Baptist Church in Fairmount and later the Friends Church of Ridge Farm. Mary was active in the Vermilion County Home Bureau.
She was a housewife on the Voorhees family farm for a number of years. During the summer, she enjoyed traveling to numerous county fairs, showing Angus cattle with the family. In the 1970s, Mary began employment at the Ridge Farm State Bank. She served as a teller for 20 years.
She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband, Dale Jones. They danced with the Frontier Twirlers and attended the National Square Dance conventions all over the U.S.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. Sunday at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with the Rev. Jimmy Hopper officiating. Visitation: 1 until service time on Sunday at Robison Chapel, Catlin. Burial in: OakRidge Cemetery, Catlin.
