GEORGETOWN — Lois A. Perry, 94, of Georgetown, passed away at 2:03 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman.
She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Tuscola, the daughter of Harry J. and Frances Schoppe Seip.
She married John C. Perry on Dec. 20, 1936. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1991.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Jerry) Sprouls of Georgetown, and son, John M. (Roseanna) Perry of Clinton, N.J.; three grandchildren, Jane (Joe) Berry of Avon, Ind., J.P. (Josanna) Perry and Ian Perry; three great-grandchildren, Caleb and Kyle Berry and Caelum Perry; and eight nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Turner; and brothers Gerald Seip and Robert D. Seip.
Lois graduated from Tuscola High School in 1935. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Georgetown Historical Society. She worked for Dr. Saul Halpern for many years, then owned and operated the Georgetown Tax Service. She was known in her family and the community for her cooking, baking and candy-making skills. Her lemon, coconut and raisin pies were to die for.
There will be a gathering of family and friends for visitation at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at The United Methodist Church in Georgetown with services following at noon conducted by Pastor Matt Filicsky to celebrate the life of Lois A Perry. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery at a later date.
