Saundra Jean Hundley


MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — Saundra Jean Hundley, 70, entered eternal peace on July 22, 2013.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Joel B. Hundley; and her son, Shemar Hundley of Merrillville, Ind.; father, Robert L. Hillsman of Danville; stepson, Paul Hundley of Quincy; beloved daughter-in-law, Cassandra Dade of Milan; faithful sister, Francine D. (Ernest) Blanden of Medina, Ohio; brothers, Carl (Janet) Alexander and Collette Hillsman of Danville; nieces and nephews, Jerry (Tisa) Day of Jackson, Tenn., Toni Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., McKinley (Tara) James of Spring Hill, Tenn., Carla Alexander Johns of Laurel, Md., Dawn Tirey of Folsom, Calif., Dallas (Monica) Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; dear friends, Wardella Rouse of Danville, Ella Anderson of Memphis, Tenn., and Marian Threatt of Hammond, Ind.; and a host of family members and other friends.

She was predeceased by her mother, Flossie Hillsman; brothers, Robert Jr. “Bill” and Fayette.

Saundra J. (Hillsman) Hundley was born in Danville on April 22, 1943. She married Joel B. Hundley on Feb. 17, 1989, in Bethalto.

She graduated from Danville High School, Danville. She attended Danville Area Community College. For several years, she was employed as a production supervisor at Nabisco Baking Company in Chicago. She also was employed as a financial analyst.

Saundra loved traveling, cooking and socializing with family and friends. She had a love for diverse music, such as, but not limited to gospel, R&B and the classics. She had a passion for fashion designing and modeling and home decorating.

At an early age, she confessed her faith in God and was a member of Second Baptist Church, Danville. She attended Embassies of Christ Ministries in Gary, Ind.

Final rites: 11 a.m. CDT Saturday, July 27, at Guy & Allen Funeral Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave., Gary, Ind., with viewing at 10 a.m. CDT; (219) 949-6326. Entombment: Ridge Lawn, Gary, Ind.
