GEORGETOWN — Ruby Irene Jordan, 88, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:18 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at her home.

Ruby was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Danville to Melvin and Celeste Barr Wimsett.

She married Paul Orva Jordan on June 4, 1950, in Georgetown. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2011.

Surviving are one son, Albert Jordan of Westville; four grandchildren, Suzanne Jordan, Maxine (Scott) Vice, Celesta Jordan and Brian (Melissa) Jordan; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee Jordan.

Ruby was a bookkeeper for Webster’s and Payton Palmer Wholesale grocers and spent many years farming with her husband. She retired as an accountant for Lovett’s Construction.

She was a member of Pleasant Mound Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher, and Orchard Hills Church of Christ.

She enjoyed working word-search puzzles and quilting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with minister Jim Russell officiating. Burial in: Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Robison Chapel, Catlin.
