Nancy Lee Kester

HOOPESTON — Nancy Lee Kester, 61, of Hoopeston, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at home.

She was born Jan. 14, 1952, in Danville, a daughter of Leland and Ruth Ann Egnew Cowan. She married Floyd Bryant “Butch” Kester on Jan. 20, 1976, in Danville; he survives.

Also surviving are her maternal grandmother, Barbara Egnew of Hoopeston; her children, Leslie Ann Sutton of Chandler, Ariz., David Joseph (Megan) Kester of Rossville and Andrew Ray (Amanda) Kester of Hoopeston; a sister, Debra Ann Cowan of Augusta, Ga.; a brother, Joseph (Darci) Cowan of Bourbonnais; and seven grandchildren.

Nancy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Hoopeston Jaycees and served as the National Sweetcorn Festival chair in 1992. She enjoyed gardening and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Public visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Brown-Alkire Funeral Home. Services will be private. According to her wishes, she will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
