Mary graduated from the University of Illinois in ’66 (Alumni Life Member) and used her talents as a speech pathologist in school districts: Naperville (’67-’71), McAuley school (’73-’77) and District 200 (’88-’06) where she was one of the founding teachers of the Jefferson Early Childhood Learning Center where she gave her students a voice and their families hope.

She enjoyed book club, bridge, cooking, cross stitch, quilt making, the Illini, travel and, most of all, family and friends.

Mary is survived by her husband of 46 years, Alan; her four children (spouse), Jennifer Paras (Bob), Amy Ballance (Matt), Melissa Somerville (Andrew) and AJ Kalitzky (Lexi); as well as her 13 grandchildren, Madison, 16, Mackenzie, 14, Noah, 14, Jackson, 12, Alaina, 10, Joey and Lennon, 7, Ava, Ophelia and Aubrey, 5, Jonah, 3, Emerson, 1, and Kate, 2 months.
