---- — Dora D. Vanzo, 92, of Westville, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at County Health Care Nursing Home in Gifford.

She was born in Jefferson County, Pa., on Dec. 18, 1920, to Vester and Rose Fava Merlie.

Dora married Albert Vanzo on April 29, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westville.

Dora attended Westville grade schools and Westville High School. She worked at several jacket factories in Danville and Westville. She also was employed with the Westville Credit Union and the First National Bank of Westville. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Dana (Michael) Clary; a son, Brian (Kendra) Vanzo; a brother, Don (Eleanor) Merlie; and several nieces and nephews.

Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; father, Vester; mother, Rose; sister, Caroline; her dear sister, Geraldine M. Balbach; and nephew, Michael Merlie.

Dora loved to garden and always created a beautiful flower garden. She was an exceptional seamstress.

A celebration of Dora’s life will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with the Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
