CATLIN — Esther B. Elmore, 94, of Catlin, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville.

Esther was born Oct. 6, 1918, near Brothers Station, Oakwood, to Clyde and Stella Baird Baldwin Brothers.

She married R. Maurice Elmore on June 12, 1943, in Oakwood. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1996.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen Elmore of Catlin, and Joseph (Linda) Elmore of Allerton; one daughter, Jane Ann (Steve) Schnorf of Springfield; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph.

Esther graduated from Oakwood High School, Class of 1936, and Eastern Illinois University in 1940. She taught home economics at Stonington, Oakwood and Danville high schools.

She enjoyed the arts and musicals and traveled to Russia and China.

She was a longtime member of the Fairview United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Danville Garden Club, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Vermilion County Museum, Catlin Historical Society and American Association of University Women and Audubon Society.

Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with the Rev. Joe Fortna officiating. Burial in: OakRidge Cemetery, Catlin. Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at Robison Chapel, Catlin.
