Lisa Kay Murphy, 50, of Westville, met her Lord at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at her home after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Lisa was born Oct. 12, 1962, in Danville to Russell and Joann Ryan Howard.
Surviving are her father, Russell Howard; two sons, Corey Murphy of Georgetown, and Ethan Murphy of Westville; one sister, Kim Howard Pfeifer of Westville; her grandmother, Lois Howard; one niece, Jordan Pfeifer; two nephews, Brent and Bryce Pfeifer; also several aunts, uncles, cousins; and two special friends, Terry Pate and Kristy Eyre.
Lisa was preceded in death by her mother; a brother, Troy Howard; her grandfather, Oscar Howard; maternal grandparents, Ollie and Rose Ryan; and her aunt, Barbara Pickett.
Lisa graduated from Westville High School in 1981. She was employed at the Veterans Affairs medical center in Danville and volunteered with the Westville Auxiliary Fire Department.
Lisa loved sports of all kinds, especially the Chicago Cubs, the Fighting Illini and Tennessee Lady Volunteers. She also was a huge fan of her hometown team, the Westville Tigers. She loved being with her family and friends, her cats, country music, riding her motorcycle and vacationing in the beautiful Smoky Mountains.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with Pastor Dan Ziebart officiating. Burial in: McKendree Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Friday at Robison Chapel, Catlin, and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday.
