Wayne Robert Johnson

IOWA PARK, Texas — Wayne Robert Johnson, 65, of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at his home.

Wayne was born on Dec. 3, 1947, in Joliet, the son of Robert and Lydia (Barth) Johnson. He married Norma (Kelly) Hoshauer on June 3, 1988, in Black River Falls, Wis. She survives.

He is also survived by his mother, Lydia Johnson of Lockport; daughter, Shellie Johnson Milligan of Wichita Falls, Texas; two step-daughters, Lynn (Bill) Murray of Spokane, Wash. and Jane Taylor of Rosalia, Wash.; three step-sons, Charles Hoshauer of Rockford, Wash., Arthur (Michelle) Hoshauer of Hoopeston and Douglas (Dale) Hoshauer of Rankin; one sister, Linda Lindemann of Lockport; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Gary Johnson; and a granddaughter, Alexis Menasco.

Wayne graduated from Joliet High School and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked in the warehouse at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas for 17 years, until he retired in 2009.

Wayne previously worked at Chanute Air Force Base in the commissary and as a mail carrier. Wayne loved history especially Native American history. He also enjoyed traveling, watching old movies and was an avid sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers.

A Celebration of Wayne’s life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac, with Pastor Phil Jackson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Potomac Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Wayne’s name to the Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76367 or to the donor’s choice. The family has entrusted Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac to assist them and to honor Wayne’s life.
