DANVILLE — James Morris Poole, 94, died April 17, 2013.

Born June 11, 1918, to Luther and Mellcenia Poole in New Goshen, Ind. He graduated from Fayette High School and completed three years of accounting at Syracuse University.

He married Thelma Maxine Morgan July 30, 1939. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1985. They had three daughters, Priscilla (Tom) Claypool, Judith Bartlett and Marlene (William) Bailey.

On July 12, 1987, he married Rozell Norris, who died Oct. 8, 2006.

Five brothers, Cliff, Herbert, Glen, George and Everett, as well as four sisters, Vernon, Nina, Naomi and Margaret, all preceded him in death. His only living sister, Monterey Trotter, resides in South Carolina.

Surviving him also are his grandchildren, Shane Pichon, Donald James Gones, Andy Claypool, Marlene West and Christine Johnson, as well as 11 great-grandchildren and two of his daughters, Marlene Bailey and Priscilla Claypool.

His daughter Judy Bartlett died Aug. 4, 2002.

He worked for S. Linger Mich International Construction Company, Hegeler Zinc Company and finally worked for O’Neil Brothers Construction Company of Tilton for over 30 years as the office manager and head of bookkeeping.

He and his wife, Thelma, raised their daughters in Danville, Ill. He loved to fish and hunt and later in life enjoyed golfing. The past few years James has lived in Avon, Ind., to be close his daughter Marlene and her care.

James and Thelma were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. He transferred to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church there in Avon. James will be buried beside his wife, Thelma, in Winter Haven, Fla.

His memorial service will be Thursday, April 25, at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9201 E. County Road 100 North, Avon, Ind. Visitation will be from 10:30-11 a.m. A memorial service will follow immediately after the visitation.
