DANVILLE — Charles Leon Spyker, 81, of Danville, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home, Danville.
Charles was born Dec. 18, 1931, in Chicago, to Coleman Rodgers and Ellsie Spyker. He was raised by his grandmother Sara Spyker. He married Reba Butcher, who preceded him in death in 1995. He married Elizabeth “Charlene” Moore, who preceded him in death in 2000.
Surviving are one son, Rusty Spyker; one daughter, Tammi (Paul) Camilletti of Moncks Corner, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Duane (Jessica) Camilletti of Westville, Chuckie Smith of South Carolina, Ryan Smith of South Carolina, Danny Spyker and Haylee Nixon of Danville.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ohen; his brother, Albert Spyker; and his sister, Avis Rodgers.
Charles served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Bohn Aluminum for 35 years. He was a member of the Westville American Legion. He also was an active member, until his sickness, of Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, CB radios and metal detecting. He was a loving father and husband.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with Pastor Mark Carpenter officiating. Private family burial will be in Sunset cemetery, Danville. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Robison Chapel, Catlin. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
