PERRYSVILLE, Ind. — Fern Elizabeth Holycross, 91, formerly of Perrysville and a resident of The Waters of Covington in Covington, Ind., for the past 10 years, passed away at 4:20 p.m. EST Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at The Waters of Covington.
She was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Lawrenceville, Ill., the daughter of the late John and Laura Wilcox Gilmore.
She married Earl R. Holycross on Jan. 29, 1949, in Danville. He survives.
Other survivors include her children, Debbie (Joe) Davan of Covington, Ind., Darlene Holycross of Perrysville, Diana (Fred) Kurz of Tampa, Fla., Denny (Kim) Holycross of Sullivan, Ind., and Scott Holycross of Perrysville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Fern was preceded in death by four sisters.
Fern was a beautician in the Danville area for several years. She was a 1940 graduate of Lawrenceville High School. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines in Danville. She enjoyed making ceramics, sewing and singing in the church choir at Union Corner.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Sunday, Nov. 17, at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church west of Covington. Officiating: Rev. Brenda Burnsworth. Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville. Visitation: 1 p.m. EST Sunday until time of services at the church.
